A brand-new gourmet grocery store with local products, prepared foods, and even a massive patio has opened its doors in Toronto, and it comes to us from people who already have a great reputation for running a small local business.
Bodega by City Cottage is a spinoff of the original City Cottage, a cafe and grocery store. Now, this new expansion of the concept is bringing a range of additional offerings from the team behind the City Cottage store.
The latest concept was founded by Liana and Daniel Naraine, who are behind the original City Cottage, which is also located in Scarborough. The project was initially founded during the pandemic as a lockdown project.
Not only can you shop for all kinds of products at the newly opened shop, but you can also grab a drink on their huge deck. The grocery store also functions as a snack bar, so you should be able to grab a bite there.
Within the store, you can find everything you need from fresh-baked bread, hot sauces and fancy olive oil to basics like eggs, meats and soups. Bodega by City Cottage also stocks frozen pizzas, wine, beer, spirits, coffee beans, ice cream, fresh-made sandwiches, fresh-baked goods, and even candles and apparel.
Some local brands you might find in the store include Lost in the Sauce hot sauce and Pilot coffee beans. The store also contains its very own location of Brett’s Ice Cream.
While the outdoor deck might be gigantic and steal the show (especially as residents hunger for better weather), the inside of Bodega by City Cottage is designed to appeal to diners by offering plenty of indoor seating.
It’s safe to say locals are excited about the new opening, as an Instagram post announcing the store’s opening received over 2,000 likes and 100 comments from people eager to welcome the new addition.
The grocery store opened with lots of fanfare on May 16, and the celebrations included live music, pop-ups and vendors sampling their wares.
Bodega by City Cottage is now open at 1680 Kingston Rd. in Scarborough.
