Transit riders looking to connect to Brampton, Waterloo and other parts of the GTA will have more options when new bus routes start running this weekend.

As of Saturday (June 24), Metrolinx will be running five new evening routes leaving the Bramalea GO and connecting to the University of Waterloo and three new eastbound trips in the morning from the University back to Brampton.

There will also be two weekdays leaving the University of Waterloo at 3:18 p.m. and 4:18 p.m. bound for the Bramalea station.

The new routes are an answer to increased demand, and Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Mike Harris says residents have been “loud and clear” about the need for more service.

“The expanded GO Bus service will give residents in our communities and across Waterloo Region the flexibility to get to and from the GTA more easily and frequently,” Harris said in a release.

GO Bus service is being added on routes 30 and 31 for customers in Waterloo Region:

  • Three new eastbound weekend trips will depart University of Waterloo at 9:17 a.m., 10:12 a.m., and 11:12 a.m., and arrive at Bramalea GO at 10:42 a.m., 11:42 a.m. and 12:42 p.m.
  • Five new westbound weekend trips will depart Bramalea GO at 4:40 p.m., 5:40 p.m., 6:40 p.m., 7:40 p.m. and 8:40 p.m., and arrive at University of Waterloo at 6:10 p.m., 7:10 p.m., 8:10 p.m., 9:05 p.m. and 10:05 p.m.
  • Two new eastbound weekday trips will depart University of Waterloo at 3:18 p.m. and 4:18 p.m., and arrive at Bramalea GO at 5:03 p.m. and 6:03 p.m.

Metrolinx also added two-way weekend GO Train service on the Kitchener Line in April, with service running hourly in both directions between Mount Pleasant GO station in Brampton and Union Station in Toronto.
