Things are going swimmingly for Mermaid Fish & Grill House as they return their unique Egyptian seafood flavours to Mississauga this week.

Chef Hesham Abdelrehim has been serving up GTA over the last decade after founding Mermaid in 2011. They were operating from Toronto’s St Clair Ave, but announced a move to 4700 Ridgeway Dr in June. The new location sits right near the border of Milton and Oakville.

The grill house describes their recipes “a celebration of traditional Egyptian and Alexandrian cuisine, including the very unique Pharo and Singari-style seafood specialties.”

These specialties, boneless Singari and crispy/juicy Pharo, have become Mermaid’s best known dishes renowned across the GTA.

However it isn’t just fish on the menu. “We take pride in using only the highest quality fresh fish, shrimp, calamari & octopus on our menu. We look forward to serving you!,” Mermaid said on the website.

The grand opening ceremony had a special guest as well. Mayor Bonnie Crombie was on hand to cut the ribbon to the new Mermaid.

Proud to welcome Mermaid Fish and Grill House, a beloved Egyptian restaurant serving Mediterranean seafood, back to Mississauga!” Crombie said via social media.

“Chef Hesham’s reputation followed him across the GTA,” she continued, “but when the opportunity arose, he knew he had to come back to his loyal customers in our City!”

The new Mermaid is open noon to 10 p.m. everyday and can be found on UberEats.
