There’s a new person in charge at the Halton Catholic District School Board.

John Klein, currently a superintendent of Education with the Waterloo Catholic District School Board, will assume the role of Director of Education for HCDSB on Oct. 3.

Klein was named to the position at a special, closed-door meeting held Sept. 9, by the board of trustees.

“We are pleased to welcome John Klein to our HCDSB community,” said Marvin Duarte, chair of the Board.

“John is an accomplished Catholic educator with extensive experience in a variety of areas. We are confident that our schools will continue to thrive and flourish under his leadership.”

Klein was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario. He began his career in 1990 as a teacher with Waterloo Catholic District School Board, and served as Principal for 12 years, including two years with responsibilities for Student Services and Section 23 schools.

In 2015, he was promoted to superintendent of Learning, responsible for several portfolios including Faith Formation, English as a Second Language (ESL), French as a Second Language (FSL), the Arts, Health, and School Supervision.

“I am honoured to have been invited to join the team at Halton Catholic District School Board,” said Klein.

“The mission, vision, and values articulated and lived out by HCDSB reflect an abiding faith and ongoing commitment to providing for our students an exceptional education so they can transform our world.”

John Klein will become the Halton Catholic District School Board’s eighth Director of Education, succeeding Pat Daly, who announced his departure last April.
