New details emerge in murder of Brampton trucker found dead near Hamilton

A truck driver found dead near Hamilton last week was killed in Brampton before his body was transported and dumped at the location where it was discovered, police now believe.

Hamilton Police have confirmed investigators have identified a second crime scene in connection with the homicide of 29-year-old Taranpreet Singh Sidhu of Brampton, who was found dead near the Lake Ontario shoreline in Stoney Creek on July 15.

Investigators previously said they were confident Sidhu was not killed in the area where his body was found. Hamilton Police have now determined the second crime scene is located in Brampton and is connected to the trucking industry.

Sidhu’s body was discovered in a culvert near the north end of Fruitland Road shortly after 8:15 a.m. on July 15. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene.

Hamilton Police have not released the cause of death or information about a possible suspect or vehicle involved in transporting Sidhu.

Sidhu immigrated to Canada from India in 2022 and lived in Brampton and Halifax while working as a truck driver.

Police say Sidhu had recently returned to Canada following a trucking job in the United States. Investigators believe the shipment he was carrying was legitimate and had passed Canada Border Services Agency screening. It is believed that Brampton was the destination for the shipment.

The trailer connected to that trip has been secured by police as investigators work to establish a timeline of Sidhu’s movements leading up to his death.

Hamilton Police continue to work with Peel Regional Police on the investigation.

Investigators are asking anyone who had contact with Sidhu or who may have information about his movements before his death to come forward. Police are particularly interested in surveillance footage, dash camera video or doorbell camera recordings that may help the investigation.
