Unifor took care of some local business over weekend, with workers at Lear Oshawa and Mills Motors in the Motor City agreeing to new deals.
Local 222 President Jeff Gray said on the union’s socials that with tariffs threatening jobs with Lear – which makes seats for General Motors – bargaining “during a crazy moment” and reaching an agreement “made this agreement one to remember.
“We fixed the grid, wages, signing bonus, bargained COLA, benefit improvements, language upgrades, increased pension contributions and a paid full time additional union representative,” he said.
Lear Oshawa employs about 350 unionized workers, with some 64 per cent of the ballots in favour of the new contract.

Local 222 also negotiated a new deal for 35 unionized workers at Mills Motors in Oshawa.
“Collectively, we chose to navigate these turbulent times with unique solutions that fit the needs of this membership.”
