Three weeks after the opening of a COVID-19 mass vaccination clinic near the airport in Mississauga, a second such facility is opening in a part of the city where vaccination rates have been lagging.

Peel Public Health (PPH) officials announced this afternoon that a vaccine clinic will open this Wednesday at Rockwood Mall, located at Dixie and Burnhamthorpe Rds. (4141 Dixie Rd.).

“Centrally located in south Mississauga, this new mass clinic will initially provide booster doses to our age 30-plus population as Peel continues to push towards 100 per cent vaccine coverage,” Peel health officials said in a news release.

At the Rockwall Mall clinic, eligible residents can get:

  • first and second doses age 18 and older (walk-in or appointment)
  • booster doses for age 30-plus population (by appointment only)

Appointments can be booked through the COVID-19 vaccination portal starting today (Jan. 17) or by calling 1-833-943-3900.

The new Rockwood Mall clinic will add about 5,000 weekly doses to vaccination capacity in Mississauga, officials note.

“Vaccination remains the cornerstone of protection against severe outcomes during this period of transition,” said Dr. Lawrence Loh, Peel Region’s medical officer of health. “During this Omicron surge, please also continue to stay home if you are sick and mask in indoor public spaces to slow the spread and protect those in our community who have not yet been protected against COVID-19. ”

Peel health officials add that residents don’t have to wait to book an appointment at the new clinic. They can do so at any such location in Mississauga and Brampton.

“New locations are added regularly as community needs are identified,” officials say.
