New COVID-19 cases in Niagara Region jump up to 31 today

It’s been a rollercoaster of a week for new COVID-19 cases in 10.Niagara Region as the numbers plummet then soar to no discernable pattern.

Today’s new cases skyrocketed to 31 after lows of four last Sunday and just eight yesterday. The remainder of the week has between in the teens and 20s but today’s number is the highest since there were 38 new cases on October 2nd.

With 11 cases resolved, that left the region sitting at 172 active cases.

St. Catharines is still the hardest hit with 60 active cases while Niagara Falls is next with 35. Three other municipalities remain in double-digits as Fort Erie has 18 cases, Grimsby is sitting at 11 while Welland has 10.

The remaining seven municipalities range from just two cases in both Niagara-on-the-Lake and Pelham up to eight cases in Thorold.
