It’s not over yet but COVID-19 seems to be limping towards the finish line in Niagara Region.

New COVID-19 cases haven’t been this low since pre-Omicron days and the death toll continues to sit steadily at 566 for Niagara.

In the past week (June 21 to 27), new known cases hovered around 20 for four days before dropping well into the teens and lower for the past three days.

June 21, 22, 23 and 24 reported 21, 22, 20 and 19 new known cases respectively before dipping to 11 on Saturday (June 25).

It dropped to just five yesterday but bounced back up to 12 today (June 27).

There are only 357 known active cases today as opposed to numbers above 1,000 a little more than a month ago.

So far, 41,653 Niagara residents are recorded as having caught COVID-19.
