New COVID-19 cases in Durham down two to 20; six from Pickering

There were 20 new positive cases of the COVID-19 virus yesterday, down two from Monday and down 14 from last Friday.

Six of the new cases are from Pickering, though all are home self-isolating. Ajax and Oshawa had five new cases each and all seven people in hospital and both in ICU are from those two towns.

For the second day in a row Whitby recorded zero new cases of the virus.

There are 149 active cases of the virus and the number of reported Delta variant cases has now reached 275, though just 13 are active.

The fully vaccinated rate in Durham Region (for 12-plus) is now 74.4 per cent.
