Now that the arrival of a Costco in Oakville is confirmed, details are starting to emerge about what it will actually look like.

According to planning documents filed with the Town, the building will be constructed on the northeast corner of the Wyecroft Rd. and the South Service Rd.

The site currently contains dozens of retail outlets and restaurants, including Old Navy Outlet, Nike Factory Store and Kitchen Stuff Plus.

The single-storey building itself will cover more than 160,000 sq.-ft. and the plans also call for a gas station.

The proposal contains plans for 1,000 parking spaces, including a new underground lot with about 300 spots.

The Longos and Home Depot east of the location won’t be affected.

The gas bar is located at the northeast corner of the site, near the South Service Rd. W. and RioCan Blvd. intersection and will contain a small warming hut for a service attendant.

Two access points from Wyecroft Rd. are proposed, which provide entry into the underground parking area. The site will also be accessible via RioCan Blvd., with one access on the north side of the site and a subsequent access on the east side of the site.

There is no timeframe for either the start or completion of the project.
