One of the most interesting and unique restaurants in Ontario just closed, but it won’t stand vacant for long as a new concept is already taking over the space.
Revival House just closed its doors in Stratford, a space that functioned as a restaurant, event venue and live music spot. Now, something called the Bijou Restaurant is moving into the unique establishment.
One of the most original things about Revival House was that it was actually housed within an old church, with an interior that looked pretty much just like a regular chapel.
Fortunately, when the Bijou Restaurant moves in, the business will be preserving the historic interior space of the church that is now a major hospitality venue in the Stratford area.
Bijou Restaurant took to social media to let people know about the changes that will be happening at one of the most well-known spaces in the entire community.
“After 27 years of welcoming guests, Bijou Restaurant is honoured to begin its next chapter in one of Stratford’s most iconic architectural landmarks. Bijou will move to the historic church property at 70 Brunswick Street — most recently home to Revival House — where a thoughtful aesthetic, hospitality, and culinary revitalization is now underway under a new name: Bijou at the Church,” reads a post on social media from Bijou.
“This new identity intentionally honours two deeply respected names in Stratford’s hospitality history — the beloved Bijou Restaurant, serving guests for the past 27 years, and the legendary Church Restaurant, remembered as one of the city’s most iconic dining destinations.”

The post announcing Bijou moving into the Revival House racked up over 1,000 likes and over 100 comments on Instagram from people who are excited that the restaurant, event space and live music venue will remain a cornerstone of the local Stratford community.
Bijou also made an announcement on social media to reassure people about any reservations they had at the old Revival House.
“We at Bijou at the Church wish the Revival House team well,” reads a social media post from Bijou. “We have had several people who had current reservations with Revival reach out. We are in the midst of a major refit and will be reopening to the public.”
Bijou at the Church is also currently hiring cooks for the restaurant’s move into the Revival House space, with both full-time and part-time positions available.
Reservations for Bijou are now available with dates starting July 24.
