The Town of Milton has received an application proposing a zoning by-law amendment to permit the development of a commercial plaza and a pedestrian walkway.

Milton Thompson Developments Limited & Mazmik Developments Limited are seeking an amendment to the Town’s zoning by-law to rezone the subject lands, located on the south side of Louis St. Laurent Ave. between Thompson Rd. South and the future Kennedy Circ. extension.

The changes are being requested to facilitate the development of the proposed commercial plaza.

The surrounding lands currently have an existing commercial plaza, restaurant and Bristol District Park to the north, a future commercial and high density residential to the west, a future secondary school to the east and a future high-density development to the south.

This proposal was discussed at a council meeting on Apr. 11, 2022.

As a result, Town staff has been authorized to bring forward an amending zoning by-law for council adoption.

Additionally, it was recommended that the Provincial Ministers of Health, Education, Transportation and Infrastructure and Metrolinx receive a copy of the report with a request to review and plan for future expansions to the Milton District Hospital, schools and transportation.

Should the applications be approved, the applicant will require site plan approval before being issued a building permit and beginning any work on the development.
