COBS Bread is officially opening a new bakery shop tomorrow (Sept. 15) at Heartland Town Centre in Mississauga, and donating all money from sales throughout the day to a charity that helps women and children in need.

The new location will be open tomorrow from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. to give customers a full day, and then some, to visit the bakery for some hand-crafted bread and flavourful treats, all baked fresh daily, according to shop owner Silvi Stermasi.

Stermasi added that 100 per cent of sales tomorrow will go to Nisa Homes, a Canada-wide charity with a Mississauga location that helps people in trouble.

“Nisa Homes provides shelter and support services to the most vulnerable members of our community,” said Stermasi. “They work with women and children that are battling domestic violence, poverty and homelessness or seeking asylum. They have an 85 per cent success rate in helping these families integrate into society and become independent by providing a safe haven for them to grow and flourish.”

Stermasi added the donations from Wednesday’s sales are crucial in helping ensure that Nisa Homes can continue to support more families and build more shelters across Canada.

Shiba Anjum, Nisa Homes national operations manager, said they’re grateful to Stermasi for choosing the charity.

“Nisa Homes values our local community contributions and partnerships and their support towards our cause,” said Anjum.

The new shop is located at 5885 Rodeo Dr., in the Heartland Town Centre.

COBS Bread has more than 135 locations across Canada and the U.S., including several in Mississauga. The chain specializes in high-quality, healthy and delicious baked goods, particularly hand-crafted bread, the company says.

All products are sold on the same day they are baked, with extra food donated to charity.
