A new clinic for those with difficult to manage chronic pain is opening in Oakville.

Avella Injury and Pain Management will soon be operating out of the Kerr St. Medical Centre.

Dealing with chronic pain can be complex and often patients have tried multiple treatment methods with varying degrees of success.

Avella says it offers patient-centred pain management for individuals that includes pharmacological management (medications), procedural interventions (injections), medical cannabis, physiotherapy interventions and psychological interventions.

The clinic says its goal is to develop a safe and sustainable treatment plan that reduces pain, improves function, enjoyment and quality of life.

“At Avella, we recognize that pain is real and multi-dimensional,” said clinic on its website. “We take a patient-focused approach. Each patient is unique with their own set of biological, psychological and social factors that contribute to their experience of pain.

“Each patient requires a careful diagnosis and a collaborative treatment plan that is catered to their specific needs. Through integrated pain management, our dedicated medical team has one goal in mind; to improve your quality of life.”

Along with the existing family care services, patients can now be referred to the pain clinic by referral form from their family doctor.

Avella currently has a clinic located in Burlington. The Kerr St. Medical Centre is located at 344 Kerr St.
