A new bakery and cafe offers large cookies and Basque cheesecake in Mississauga.
Momochee’s Desserts at 263 Lakeshore Rd. E. celebrated its grand opening this month.
The shop focuses on baked goods made from scratch with no artificial flavours or preservatives, according to website.
A specialty is Basque cheesecake, which is typically a crustless cake with a golden surface.
“The cafe you should go to when craving for a slice of legitimate basque cheesecake & a matcha latte….and the wait is over!” Momochee’s Desserts said on Instagram.
Basque cheesecake is an iconic baked cheesecake originally from San Sebastián in Spain’s Basque region. It’s typically much lighter than a New York-style cheesecake. The cake has a distinct créme caramel flavour.
Momochee’s offers a variety of Basque cheesecakes including matcha red bean mochi, chocolate and earl grey flavours.
They describe the cake as creamy with “melt-in-your-mouth goodness.”
The menu includes a selection of “monster cookies” and shortbread cookies.
There is seating and a variety of espresso, coffee, matcha and other drinks on the menu.
