An art program connecting toddlers with veterans and older adults is being started in Milton.

The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton is introducing the initiative aimed at helping those groups connect through the magic of art.

Milton Veteran Creative Exchange – Empowering Generations Through Art, is a free multi-week, intergenerational arts program open to veterans, adults over the age of 55 and preschoolers.

Each week, a preschooler is paired with a veteran or a 55-plus adult to partake in art activities and share a snack break together.

Interested participants can register individually and will be matched with either a preschooler or senior. Participants can also request their partner by emailing [email protected] after both parties have registered.

The program will run throughout the year in three instalments, spring, summer and fall. It will culminate in a month-long gallery exhibition at the FirstOntario Arts Centre’s Holcim Gallery in November, where participants’ works of art will be displayed.

The Milton Veteran Creative Exchange program is hosted by The FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton in collaboration with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136.

Visit the FirstOntario Arts Centre Milton’s website for more information about the program.

The program begins May 28 and runs Tuesdays at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 136, located at 21 Charles St. Registration is available online.
