Mississauga diners can finally enjoy the taste of morning in Spain at any time of day when a new breakfast joint and bakery opens its doors next Tuesday.

The new spot, Cafe Panchita offers all-day breakfast, a robust espresso beverage menu, a variety of salads and, eventually, a full artisanal bakery.

This bakery will offer brioche croissants, pastries and specialty breads such as sourdough, and homemade sodas.

Cafe Panchita may be new, but it comes from a well-known face in Mississauga. It’s owned and operated by Chef Humberto Sanchez, who is already acclaimed for running the Catalina Bar, hailed as Mississauga’s favorite Spanish restaurant.

Sanchez is renowned for his work in a 3 Michelin-star restaurant in Madrid, Spain and a wide variety of appearances on the Food Network in shows like Chopped in addition to the Catalina.

Sanchez’s specialty is his paella, a traditional Spanish rice dish of which he said, “There was a time in an area of Spain where people didn’t have many ingredients and there weren’t a lot of resources available. They created a dish with rice, chicken, rabbit, and some vegetables, and turned it into something so magnificent, now known as paella. I love Spanish cuisine and I want to represent it well.”

Cafe Panchita continues Sanchez’s passion for Spanish cuisine from 152 Lakeshore Rd. E, just down the street from its predecessor.
