Plans for a new development near Brampton’s Claireville Conservation Area could bring more than 400 residential units, shopping and plenty of underground parking to Brampton.

The city first received development pre-consultations for the proposed project back in 2021 which looks to bring a 34-storey high-rise tower with an 8-storey podium, as well as a three-storey retail building to Brampton’s east end.

Located at 0 Ebenezer Dr. at the corner of Queen Street East and McVean Drive, the tower would add more than 400 units to Brampton’s housing stock on a 2.41-acre vacant lot across from the Claireville Conservation Area.

Design elements include a green roof system for stormwater management, two outdoor amenity areas, a rooftop resident’s lounge with a bar, BBQ and dining tables, and a play area for kids among many other features.

Plans for an underground parking garage would have space for nearly 700 hundred vehicles with additional visitor and commercial parking space above ground.

According to a design brief, the project would help with “revitalization” and add increased residential density to the Bram East area and benefit from the proximity to public transit and active transportation opportunities.

The proposed site is near the McVean Barn and Farm heritage site, but archeological and heritage assessments have already been completed and ” did not identify any archaeological resources,” and made “no recommendations on the designation of the subject property.”
