Signs of a new Netflix thriller series being filmed in Milton were captured over the weekend.

The Madness is a new political thriller/drama produced by the same team that made Fear Street, Luther, starring Idris Elba and Slumberland, starring Jason Mamoa.

Filming in the Toronto area started in mid-March and is expected to last until late June. Crews were at the Milton Sports Centre over the weekend with plenty of trailers and equipment on site.

The eight-episode show, which is expected to debut on Netflix next year, stars Colman Domingo, who has previously been seen in Zola and Fear The Walking Dead.

He’s also worked with Netflix on Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and the upcoming 2023 movie release Rustin. Domingo plays the lead role of the media pundit Muncie Daniels.

“I am beyond thrilled,” said Domingo on Twitter. “This series is an epic, game-changing thriller. Let’s Go!”

According to Netflix, here is the plot synopsis.

“In The Madness, media pundit Muncie Daniels must fight for his innocence and his life after he stumbles upon a murder deep in the Poconos woods. As the walls close in, Muncie strives to reconnect with his estranged family – and his lost ideals – in order to survive.”
