Netflix superhero series that films in Hamilton will have a 4th and final season

Viktor, Luther, Allison and all of the Hargreeves might be hitting up their haunts in Hamilton one last time.
On Thursday, Netflix announced that “The Umbrella Academy,” the streaming superhero series that stars Canadian Elliot Page and does much of its filming in Hamilton, will have a fourth and final season. It will premiere some time in 2023. One reason for wrapping the series is that creator and showrunner Steve Blackman is developing two new series for Netflix.
Season 3 of the series debuted on Netflix on June 22. It is shown in over 190 nations, and Ontario creators and technical artists have received six Emmy Award nominations for their contributions to the series. Across its three seasons, 38 locations in Hamilton have been used for filming. Some include Gage Park, Ottawa St. N., LiUNA Station and the Residences at Royal Connaught, a condo tower in the 100-block of King St. E. downtown. (The Royal Connaught has a façade out front that can stand in for an older big-city hotel, and has a far enough setback from King to allow camera operators to set up without blocking traffic flow.)
In June, at the time Season 3 went live, the Motion Pictures Association — Canada released an economic impact study showing how much “The Umbrella Academy” has contributed to Ontario’s and Hamilton’s economy. It estimated that filming Season 2 in 2019 pumped $77.9 million into the provincial economy. The bulk of that occurred in Hamilton, Mississauga and Ajax.
The study suggested a commensurate amount of economic activity was generated from the first and third seasons.

“The Umbrella Academy” is based on a comic book series of the same name made by My Chemical Romance musician Gerard Way, and illustrator by Gabriel Bá. It is published by Dark Horse Comics.
Blackman’s two new series are “Orbital” and another based on the video game “Horizon Zero Dawn.”
