Two development projects in Newcastle will be coming to Clarington’s Planning and Development Committee next month, with the two proposals bringing more than 1,900 residential units to the village – the majority to a project on Wilmot Creek Drive.
GHD Limited has submitted applications on behalf of Rice Development Corporation for a Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision at 6 Wilmot Creek Drive in Newcastle.
The proposal would see 1,755 units (114 street-side townhouses, 269 condo townhouses and 1,372 apartment units in a block of low-rise buildings, with the maximum height eight storeys) on a 76-acre site.
The proposal also contains 1,700 square metres of retail space within four mixed-use buildings, two parkettes, open space blocks, a stormwater management facility and underground parking.

GHD Limited has also submitted applications (on behalf of Douglas Humphrey) for a Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision in Bennet Road – immediately north of the CN Rail tracks and south of the Wilmot Creek proposal.
The developer wants to bring 160 units (60 back-to-back townhouses and 100 apartment units) with a parkette and underground parking, to a 6.3-acre site.
