The new NDP leader, Marit Stiles, is now making the rounds holding Town Hall meetings to discussing protecting the Greenbelt at all costs.

Tonight (March 31) is Niagara’s turn as she will turn up at the Fleming Memorial Arena (5020 Serena Dr) in Lincoln at 6 pm with local NDP members – Niagara Falls MPP Wayne Gates and Niagara Centre MPP Jeff Burch – on hand to discuss how the fight against Bill 23, Doug Ford’s Greenbelt bill, should continue.

Last night, Stiles held a Hamilton Town Hall at the West Avenue Cider House in Freelton with Hamilton-West Ancaster & Dundas MPP Sandy Shaw as the host.

“Doug Ford wants to bulldoze and pave over 7,400 acres of protected land – precious ecologically-significant areas, critically-important farmland, and delicate watersheds,” says the meeting’s literature. “He’s doing it so a small handful of insider developers will make millions in profits.”

“Ford’s Conservatives say it’s about housing—but their Greenbelt grab won’t build a single new unit of affordable housing.”

Niagara’s only Conservative at Queen’s Park, Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff said on Wednesday (March 29) that the government is taking 7,000 acres from the greenbelt that doesn’t need to be there, but it’s adding 9,400 in other areas, including north of Toronto.
