The Ontario Hockey League (OHL) playoffs may be over for Oakville’s Luke Evangelista, but not his hockey season.

The Nashville Predators prospect, whose London Knights were eliminated from the OHL playoffs last week, was assigned Wednesday (May 11) to Milwaukee of the American Hockey League (AHL).

The 20-year-old led the OHL in scoring this season with 55 goals and finished fourth in points with 111 (55-56) in 62 games.

The five-foot-11, 166-pound forward topped all Knights players in goals, assists, points and plus-minus (+29) and helped lead his team to a division title for the third straight campaign.

Evangelista also had the most points in OHL regular season by a Predators draft pick, a mark previously held by David Legwand in 1997-98 (105).

He is also the third Nashville prospect and first since Alexander Radulov in 2005-06 to score at least 50 goals in a CHL season.

Evangelista was drafted by the Predators in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.

This marks the second taste of pro hockey for the forward. Evangelista played in 14 games last season with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, collecting four assists.
