Mushrooms, yogurt, cookies among items recalled in Mississauga, Brampton and beyond

Mississauga and Brampton residents are encouraged to check their home for these food products as Health Canada releases recalls. The items include King Oyster mushrooms, energy balls, Enjoy Life baked goods and drinkable yogurt.

WA Fungi brand King Oyster Mushroom

Risk: TWA Fungi brand King Oyster Mushrooms are recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The product comes in a 200g bag and has mainly been sold in British Columbia but is possible to have been sold in other provinces as well. The recall includes all units sold up to and on July 1.

Health Canada says food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk.

What you should do: Contact a doctor if a recalled product has made you sick. Check to see if there are recalled products in your home. Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products. Throw recalled products into the garbage or return them to the location they were purchased from.


Certain Enjoy Life brand bakery products

Risk: Certain Enjoy Life brand bakery products recalled due to the possible presence of pieces of plastic. The recall includes six different Enjoy Life products.

Soft Baked Cookies in the flavours of Snickerdoodle, Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Brownie, all 170 g.

Chewy Bars in Chocolate Chip and Caramel flavour, 165 g.

Breakfast Ovals in flavours of Chocolate Chip and Banana as well as Berry Medley, both 250 g.

Health Canada says these products have been sold nationally and online.

RemarkaBall brand Crunchy Energy Balls

Risk: RemarkaBall brand Crunchy Energy Balls are recalled due to undeclared milk in the product. Not declaring milk ingredients on the label poses serious health risks for anyone with milk sensitivities. The recalled products include RemarkaBall Crunchy Almond Crunchy Energy Balls, 78 g as well as RemarkaBall Crunchy-Hazelnuts Crunchy Energy Balls, also 78 g.

What you should do: Check to see if there are recalled products in the home. Do not consume recalled products to which you are allergic or sensitive as they may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction. Do not serve, use, sell or distribute recalled products. Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased.


Lao Beijing brand Drinkable Yogurt recalled due to mold

Risk: Lao Beijing brand Drinkable Yogurt is recalled due to the possible presence of mold. The recalled products were sold in British Columbia and Ontario under the company HZ Foods Incorporated.
