Graham Mlodozenec, 52, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Geraldine Fulcher, a 61-year-old Calabogie resident, as well as two counts of uttering threats and several weapons offences.

OPP homicide investigators learned of the threats during their investigation into the death of Fulcher, whose body was found on Lanark Road on May 6.

The OPP shared the information with Winnipeg Police and the accused was arrested in downtown Winnipeg within 40 minutes, police said.

The investigation found the suspect was alleged to have made threats to the business and its employees as well as to police.

Mlodozenec was arrested on Portage Avenue in Winnipeg May 12. Officers seized a shotgun, ammunition, other weapons and three jerrycans of gasoline.

“Through combined police efforts, an arrest has been made in Geraldine’s homicide and additional harm was prevented. We thank the public for their patience and the Winnipeg Police Service for their swift action.”

An investigation continues.
