A 24-year-old Mississauga man has been charged with first-degree murder in the slaying this past summer of another Mississauga man who was gunned down while reportedly inside his vehicle in Toronto.
Toronto Police said in a news release this morning that they made an arrest in the case on Tuesday.
Abdalla Azawi, of Mississauga, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the June 12 shooting death of Tung Duc Do, 43, also of Mississauga.
Azawi made his first appearance in Toronto court on Tuesday.
Do was reportedly shot to death while in his vehicle just after 11:30 a.m. in the area of Steeles Avenue West and Islington Avenue in Toronto’s west end, just south of Vaughan.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle he was driving had reportedly wound up on the sidewalk.
It was Toronto’s 24th murder of 2023.
Investigators say they’re still interested in speaking to anyone with information on the murder. Those with information are urged to call police at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
