Multiple victims injured in stabbing attacks in downtown Hamilton

One man is in custody and multiple people were rushed to hospital following a rash of stabbings near a downtown Hamilton transit terminal.

The assaults happened shortly after 2 p.m. when the Hamilton Police Service says officers were called to the area of the MacNab Street Transit Terminal.

Four people were injured and suffered non-life threatening injuries, police say.

Investigators identified Oscar Ayala, of no fixed address, as the suspect and say in an update that the man was arrested and charged. Police say Ayala has been charged with four counts of assault with a weapon.
