Multiple food products recalled due to presence of insects in Mississauga and Brampton

Health Canada reports that multiple products have been recalled from stores in Ontario this week (Jan. 24 to 30) due to potential health and safety risks, including stores in Mississauga and Brampton.

Residents are advised to check if they have these products at home and avoid using or consuming them out of caution.

The following products are affected:


Certain Quality fast foods brand and Hygaard Fine Foods Ltd. brand sandwiches

Quality fast foods: Turkey Bacon Sandwich on Stone Milled Wheat

Risk: Possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick with symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your doctor.


Miski Organic brand Organic Dried Banana Slices

Risk: Presence of insects.

PC Organics brand Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats

Risk: Presence of insects.

What you should do: Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. If you think you became sick from consuming a recalled product, contact your doctor.


Carrément Beau Raincoat

Risk: Drawstrings on children’s upper outerwear can become caught on playground equipment, fences, or other objects and result in strangulation, or in the case of a vehicle, the child being dragged.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately remove the drawstrings from both sides of the raincoat waistband, cutting and removing all cords, to eliminate the hazard.  Consumers may return the item to the store of purchase for a refund.


Hoppetta 2-Way Gauze Sleep Bag

Risk: The products do not meet the flammability requirements for children’s sleepwear, posing a potential burn hazard.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled 2-Way Gauze Sleep Bag and discard, or return to Baby Square for a refund.


Matrix T1 and T3 Treadmills

Risk: The connection between the power cord and socket can be loosened, posing a fire hazard.

What you should do: Consumers should stop using and unplug the units and contact Johnson Health Tech North America to schedule a service technician to visit the consumer’s home to install a power cord keeper on the treadmill.
