Multiple areas in Mississauga reporting higher COVID-19 rates

Three areas in Mississauga are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, according to recent data from Toronto-based research group ICES.

ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of October 17 to 23.

Of the top 50 listed, three are in Mississauga:

46th highest positivity in Ontario

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of October 17 was 1.5%, down 0.2% from the previous week, according to ICES’s data.

The same data indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Peel had the 12th highest COVID-19 percent positivity for the week.

Additionally, Peel Region’s interactive COVID-19 map shows which areas in the city are reporting higher rates than others.

For the week of October 17 to 23, the Region reports 96 new cases in Mississauga and 199 new cases in Peel overall.
