Multi-vehicle accident shuts westbound Hwy. 401 through Milton

UPDATE: Highway has been cleared. All lanes now open.

Westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 in Milton are closed (April 5) following a multi-vehicle accident near Hwy. 25.

Ontario Provincial Police report there are no injuries but one motorist has been charged with careless driving.

All westbound lanes are now closed to deal with the clean-up.

Reports indicate a transport truck carrying SUVs was involved in a collision with another truck resulting in fuel oil spilling across the lanes. That accident occurred around 11:30 a.m.

Aside from regular traffic delays, Halton Student Transportation Services has said the accident will cause delays in travel times for students on their way home. Affected schools can be found here.
