There are even more ways to get outside and stay fit this winter in Brampton with the Mount Chinguacousy ski hill and two new outdoor community ice rinks opening this week.

The Mount Chinguacousy ski hill officially opened on Wednesday (Feb. 1) with only one run currently open due to snow conditions, while the tube hill will open Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Weather and snow conditions may impact hours and operation, so be sure to check for updates before heading out to the hill.

The tube hill has a minimum height requirement of 42″ (106 cm) and a maximum weight of 250 lbs (113 kg), and users are encouraged to bring their own helmets.

Ski and snowboard lessons, rentals, and tuning are available at Mount Chinguacousy with registered lessons and school reservations starting on Feb. 9. or take a break and relax in the Ski Chalet or get a bite to eat at the snack bar.

The City is also opening two new outdoor community rinks this week at Boreham Park and Peel Village Park are set to open within the week, weather and conditions permitting.

While warmer weather conditions had delayed the season-opening, the City said staff are working to make sure Brampton’s rinks are ready for the community to enjoy hockey and skating throughout the day.

The rinks will be open for free skating from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and hockey between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and again from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
