Police in Hamilton are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Ancaster, where a motorcyclist was “thrown” from his bike.

A 33-year-old Brantford man was driving a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle eastbound on Wilson St. towards Alberton Rd. South just before 5 p.m. At the same time, a 57-year-old Ohsweken man, driving a 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck, was travelling westbound on Wilson.

As the truck turned left onto Alberton, it collided with the motorcycle, throwing the motorcyclist from his vehicle.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup and the 47-year-old passenger were unharmed during the collision.

Investigators have not ruled out vehicle speed or driver impairment as contributing factors.

This is the city’s 21st traffic fatality and the fifth time a driver has died in a collision this year.
