Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries after collision with Civic in Whitby

A 24-year-old motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after his bike collided with a Honda Civic in north Whitby Monday evening.

Durham Police were called to the intersection of Brock Street and Manning Road at approximately 8:22 p.m. to investigate a collision and found the motorcyclist suffering from serious injuries. He was treated on scene by Durham Paramedics before being transported to a trauma center in Toronto.

The driver of the Honda Civic was not injured.

Police say the driver of the motorcycle was northbound on Brock Street and was approaching Manning Road. The driver of the silver Honda Civic, a 74-year-old man, was southbound on Brock Street, waiting to make a left turn onto Manning Road. As the light was changing the driver of the Honda Civic proceeded to make the left turn and collided with the northbound motorcycle.

The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while officers collected evidence.
