Motorcyclist dead in head-on crash with truck and horse trailer

A motorcycle rider is dead after a head-on collision with a truck and horse trailer near Caledon.

Around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Aug. 21), the Caledon OPP say officers and emergency crews responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 9 near Highway 50, northeast of Caledon.

Police say a motorcycle and a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer collided head on.

The motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries, police said.

Police said there were horses in the trailer at the time of the crash but none of the animals were injured.

The name of the deceased has not yet been released by police to allow for the family to be notified.

Highway 9 between Hwy 50 and Finnerty Side Road will remain closed for several hours.
