Motorcyclist dead following two-vehicle crash in the City of Niagara Falls

Police are urging witnesses to come forward with information regarding a collision yesterday involving a SUV and motorcycle in the City of Niagara Falls, that left a Thorold resident dead.

On Saturday (Sept. 9) at approximately 2:15 p.m., police say a crash occurred between a grey 2022 Chevrolet Equinox and a black 2011 Yamaha F8C motorcycle near Oakwood Dr., west of Queen Elizabeth Wy.

According to Niagara Regional Police, paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Service and Niagara Falls Fire Department personnel also arrived the scene.

Investigators say despite their immediate response, the 44-year-old man who was operating the motorcycle was pronounced dead, while the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox reportedly had no injuries.

The NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit, supported by detectives from the NRPS Forensic Services Unit have taken over the investigations.

Officers say, the circumstances surrounding the cause of the incident remain under investigation, and any witnesses are asked to come forward.

Motorists who may have been in the vicinity at the time of the accident and possess operational dash-camera footage are encouraged to review their recordings and share any relevant information with the lead detective at 905-688-4111.
