A 58-year-old man was killed today (July 24) after losing control of his motorcycle on Hwy. 407 in Mississauga.

Members of the OPP Highway Safety Division responded to a section of Hwy 407 near Hwy 401 after receiving reports of a motorcycle crash on the highway.

Police say an initial investigation has determined that the westbound traveling motorcycle driver lost control and struck a concrete guiderail.

The lone male rider sustained serious injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police suspect a medical event could have possibly caused the loss of control but that is not confirmed.

A portion of Hwy 407 was closed while emergency services worked to clear the scene. All lanes have now reopened.

The investigation into the crash continues at this time.
