A motorcycle and a car collided this evening in Brampton closing down busy streets in the city centre.

The two vehicles collided at Queen St and Hansen Rd., a busy commercial district downtown, shortly before 6 p.m. Peel Regional Police announced the crash online nearly an hour later.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a trauma centre for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. The driver remained at the scene. Police remain on the scene to investigate the crash.

They’ve shut down the westbound lanes on Queen St., a major thoroughfare through the city. Officers have also closed the southbound lanes of Hansen Rd.

Police advise motorists to avoid the area.

Update: Police have entirely shut down the intersection for their investigation. There is no estimate of when it may reopen.
