Those looking for a special Mother’s Day treat may want to head out to The Sunday Antique Market this weekend.

The monthly market is on Sunday, May 14 at the historic Small Arms Inspection Building in Mississauga.

Vendors sell vintage and antique pieces with an assortment of home décor, art, and vintage jewelry.

Styles range from art-deco to mid-century modern, and there are several benefits to buying second-hand.

“Antique and vintage items not only carry the weight of history and exquisite design but also contribute to environmental sustainability by promoting the reuse and recycling of items over time,” the market notes in a press release.

Vendors at The Sunday Antique Market scour the world for their pieces – sterling silver from England, folk art from Quebec, antiquarian and old books from private collections, and unique pieces from estate sales.

And this Sunday will be a special one.

“We are delighted to host this event on Mother’s Day, a day that commemorates family, love, and tradition,” said Marlene Cook, organizer of The Sunday Antique Market. “We have, over the years, assembled an interesting and trendsetting collection of vendors.”

This Sunday, the event will also feature a selection of “homemade Mother’s Day-themed
pastries” from the Capital B Bistro.

The Sunday Antique Market is inside the Small Arms Building at 1352 Lakeshore Rd. E. It is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
