A Brampton woman says she’ll be paying off her bills and heading on a beach vacation after scoring a $100,000 lottery win.
Brampton’s Geraldine Lenaghan says she’s a regular lottery player, buying a ticket once every month.
The 71-year-old says she’s never had a big win until checking her ticket for the Jan. 20 Lotto 6/49 draw, matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in order.
Lenaghan says she froze when discovering she’d won a $100,000 prize.
“The store clerk was jumping up and down,” she said while picking up her winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “I was pacing back and forth trying to calm myself down.”
“I told my family and friends and they were so happy for me. I also told my coworkers, and they began to do the happy dance,” Lenaghan said.
She said the win is “a huge blessing” and will help pay off her mortgage and take a beach vacation.
Encore offers 22 ways to win and can be played along with most lottery games for an extra $1, with a new draw every day. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
The winning ticket was purchased at BCC Lotto Centre on Peel Centre Drive in Brampton.
