More than 5,000 homes and businesses in Hamilton without power Monday morning

Alectra Utilities tweeted Monday morning at around 9:30 a.m. that approximately 5,100 homes and businesses in Stoney Creek were without power.

With crews on the scene, the number shrank to 2,258 at around 9:45 a.m., according to the hydro company.

Work continues in the area.

Alectra did not provide a cause. It also did not provide an estimated time of restoration at the time of publication.
