More than 3,000 Alectra customers are without power in Hamilton tonight in two distinct outages.

The power utility announced the ongoing outage at 9:30 p.m. October 27. The first outage affects a large swath of the city at the base of the Skyway Bridge.

This outage stretches from Princess Park in the North down to Chedoke Park south of Aberdeen Ave. From there it moves east to James Mountain Rd. by St Joseph’s Healthcare. It then heads north up past the West Harbour GO station.

The second outage is farther east in Stoney Creek. This one stretches along Queen Elizabeth Way from Lewis Rd. to Fifty Rd. Then it heads north along the lakeshore toward the end of Creanona Rd.

The cause of the Strathcona outage remains under investigation while the Stoney Creek outage is confirmed to be an animal contact.

Repair crews are on site working on restoring the power. The Stoney Creek outage is expected to be resolved by 11:30, while Strathcona area residents will have to wait until at least 1:30.
