Another 25 cancelled school bus routes affecting 21 schools in three communities are plaguing parents Thursday as the driver shortage problem continues in Durham Region.

The situation has eased somewhat – there have been more than 40 routes cancelled per day since the beginning of last week – but bus companies like First Student and Century Transport are still finding it hard to find enough drivers.

First Student cancelled 19 routes today with 16 schools affected in Ajax and Whitby while Century Transport has cancelled six routes affecting seven schools in Clarington and Whitby.

Both companies cancelled routes at Duke of Cambridge Public and Bowmanville High in Clarington.

Other affected schools are All Saints, Chris Hadfield and Holy Family in Whitby; St. Josephine Bakhita, Alexander Graham Bell, Bolton Falby and J. Clarke Richardson in Ajax; and Vincent Massey, Courtice Intermediate, Courtice Secondary, St. Worden, Central Public, The Pines, Clarke High, Newcastle Public, St. Joseph, St. Stephen, Clarington Public and Clarington Intermediate in Clarington.
