More school bus cancellations as driver shortages affect routes from Pickering to Clarington

School bus cancellations are continuing into its second week and spreading, with two companies now involved with 42 routes from Pickering to Bowmanville cancelled today.

First Student is still experiencing the worst of the driver shortages plaguing the industry with eight routes in Clarington, four in Uxbridge, two in Whitby, two in Oshawa, two in Pickering and one in Ajax cancelled this morning with the same number cancelled in the afternoon.

Century Transportation is also having difficulties in finding enough drivers with school bus service to six schools affected.

Schools with bus routes cancelled today (February 13) include Courtice Intermediate, Clarington Public, Hampton Junior Public and St. Stephen Catholic Secondary in Clarington; O’Neill High, Pereyma Catholic Secondary, McLaughlin Secondary and St. Hedwigs Catholic in Oshawa; Port Perry High, RH Cornish Public and SA Cawker Public in Scugog; Uxbridge Secondary, St. Joseph Catholic, Scott Central Public and Goodwood Public in Uxbridge; Willow Walk Public and Anderson CVI in Whitby; St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic and Biidaasige Mandamin Public in Pickering; and St. Francis de Sales Catholic in Ajax.
