A Mississauga grandfather says keeping his family close is on the agenda now that he has hit the jackpot with Lotto 6/49.

Julian Richards says the first thing that came to his mind when he won the $7,102,956.40 prize of the January 29 draw was how he was going to help his family.

“I want to buy real estate for my children so we can be close together. I want to babysit for them and watch my grandchildren grow up close to me,” he said. “I will also share some of this win with my mom and take some time to travel.”

Like most winners, Richards couldn’t believe his eyes when he checked his ticket at a local store.

“I was shocked,” he said. “I play twice a week and you always hope you will win but can’t believe it when it happens.”

He said his family told him he deserved the win.

“They are so happy for me and told me I am deserving of this prize. It made me feel good to hear them say that,” he smiled.

The winning ticket was purchased at Metro on Erin Mills Pkwy.

Meanwhile, another Mississauga man is almost $13,000 richer after splitting the $64,549.90 second place prize in the Feb. 4 Lotto Max draw.

Lokesh Singhani gets his share while splitting the prize with four others.

That ticket was purchased at Rabba Fine Foods on Eglinton Ave. E.
