Montreal style bagel shop opens in Whitby

Montreal style bagel fans in Durham Region should prepare themselves as a new bagel shop opens in Whitby on Monday.
Kettlemans Bagel Company is continuing their expansion with a new location at 4140 Garden St.
The doors of the restaurant will open at 9 a.m. on Monday (June 20) and remain open as Kettlemans Bagel is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year round.

Montreal style bagels are different from a New York style bagel because they are boiled in honey and water, resulting in a sweeter taste.
The bagels are then cooked in a wood-fired oven, giving them a deeper and crunchier crust. They appear thinner and smaller than a New York style bagel while remaining doughy and dense.

But there is more on the menu than just bagels. The restaurant features salads, pretzels, kosher dill pickles, latkes, and 11 different types of cream cheese.
“We pride ourselves on offering foods of the highest quality, made with premium ingredients and old-world care,” Kettlemans said on their website. “We’ve got a whole variety of delicious and unique menu options.”
The bagel company encourages guests to claim a $5 off coupon that is rewarded when you download the Kettlemans app and join their rewards program.
Kettlemans says the app can also be useful for ordering ahead so you can skip the line in-store.
The first Kettlemans Bagel shop opened in Ottawa in 1993. The company now owns seven different locations in Ottawa and the GTA.
