And just like that, it’s October.

It’s the first weekend of a brand new month and the weather looks like a bit of a mixed bag but who cares? There’s still a lot to do around Hamilton.

If you’re up for a laugh or a taste of arts and culture, there’s likely something happening that will scratch all those itches.

Here are 5 things happening around Hamilton this weekend (Oct. 1, 2 and 3).

5. Art Gallery of Hamilton season opener

The 2021 Fall Exhibitions Opening weekend is happening this Saturday (Oct. 2) and Sunday (Oct. 3) from 11 am – 4 pm. Admission to the gallery is free this weekend as they celebrate the opening of some exciting new exhibits. More information can be found on the AGH website or by following them on social media.

4. Monster Jam

Monster Jam is back at the FirstOntario Centre this Saturday and Sunday. Witness heated rivalries, high-flying stunts and fierce head-to-head battles for the Event Championship in monstrous trucks. More information and tickets can be found on the Core Entertainment website.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are back at home this Saturday. The Montreal Alouettes are in town to square off against the Ti-Cats. The last time these two came face-to-face at the end of August, the Ti-Cats slaughtered the Alos 27 to 10 at Percival Molson Memorial Stadium in Montreal. Let’s see if our boys in gold and black can keep up the momentum. Kick off is 4 p.m. More information and tickets can be found on the team’s website.

2. OktoberWest

Visit Westdale Village this weekend to shop the artisan market, hear some live music or perhaps eat some delicious food and watch the event unfold from one of the many patios in area. There is also a childrens art contest (sponsored by Mixed Media and KingWest Books) and entries will be on display in the village all October. Concerts Friday and Saturday night at 9pm will be held at the Westdale Cinema and will feature performances by Tom Wilson and Sean Jones. More information can be found on the Westdale Village Facebook and Instagram accounts.
