The city and Mohawk College announced a new partnership that would see the Mountaineers soccer teams play their 2022 home games at the stadium.

Mohawk will be the first-ever Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) program to call a professional stadium its home field.

Tim Hortons Field is currently home to the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League. The Hamilton Hurricanes of the Canadian Junior Football League also play their homes at the stadium.

“We are thrilled to partner with the City of Hamilton on the use of Tim Hortons Field,” said Matt Ferreira, Director of Athletics and Recreation. “The move to this first-class stadium matches with the Mountaineers high-performance mindset and will provide our soccer teams a site they can call theirs.”

The Mountaineers’ first game at Tim Hortons Field is Sept. 14 versus cross-city rival the Redeemer Royals. The women’s game will kick off at 6 p.m. and the men will follow at 8 p.m.

The full Mohawk men’s and women’s soccer schedules can be found online.

Doors to the multi-propose stadium opened in 2014. It has since hosted several marquee sporting events, including the 2015 Pan-Am Games, the 2021 CFL Grey Cup, a FIFA World Cup qualification match between Canada and the United States, and the 2022 NHL Heritage Classic.
