MiWay free New Year's Eve service in Mississauga

MiWay is increasing transit bus service in many of Mississauga’s busiest areas starting this Monday.

Included in the broad range of added services is a plan to get people to and from the new Churchill Meadows Community Centre and Sports Park in the city’s west end.

Transit officials say routes have been revised and schedules updated in order to service the $51-million state-of-the-art facility, which opened last month.

Specifically, Route 9 Rathburn-Thomas will connect, Monday to Sunday, the new community centre and the City Centre Transit Terminal via Thomas St. and Rathburn Rd.

Additionally, Route 35 Eglinton will service, Monday to Sunday, the community centre along Eglinton Ave. connecting Renforth Transitway Station and Kipling Bus Terminal.

Also, Route 35A Eglinton-Tenth Line will be cancelled to avoid service duplication.

To make travel easier for Sheridan College students, Route 61 Mavis weekend routing and schedules will change to service the college seven days a week. The weekend routing will no longer service Financial Dr. and be consistent with the weekday routing.

Transit officials say they’re making the changes “to ensure that service continues to adapt to customer needs and connect to new destinations.”

They add they’ll continue to monitor ridership levels across MiWay as travel patterns change in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing recovery.

More trips have been added to the following routes:

  • Weekday: 42 Derry (late night), 51Tomken (rush hours and midday) and 53 Kennedy (rush hours and midday)
