MiWay 2023 Holiday season service changes

Starting this week, Mississauga residents who use the bus to get around the city should notice a series of improvements introduced by MiWay.

The City of Mississauga’s public transit provider says it has revised some routes and schedules “to strengthen transit network connections and service reliability, and to increase service frequency on routes where customer demand has grown.”

MiWay officials say all routes across the city are monitored regularly in order to respond as quickly as possible to the changing needs of passengers.

Shifts in demand occur as travel and traffic patterns continue to evolve in response to COVID-19 recovery plans, they add.

Two routes in particular have been revised in order to strengthen transit network connections.

Route 57 Courtneypark (weekday service) has been revised to service Sheridan College via Mavis Rd. and Steeles Ave. to improve connections with Brampton Transit and respond to ridership growth in employment areas along Courtneypark Dr.

Additionally, this route will no longer service Meadowvale Town Centre, Meadowvale Blvd. or Old Derry Rd. Customers at Meadowvale Town Centre can now take Route 42 Derry and transfer to Route 57 at Mavis and Derry Rds.

Service to the Britannia Infield Loop is also being reduced to match customer demand, MiWay says.

Route 8 Cawthra (weekday service) is being revised to resume service to the Mississauga Seniors Centre between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Riders can visit MiWay online to see revised route maps.

Other service improvements also take effect this week, according to MiWay.

More frequent service to match increased demand has been added along some major roads:

  • Route 39 Britannia (weekday): every 24 to 20 minutes during peak times in the morning and afternoon
  • Route 42 Derry (Sunday): every 35 to 26 minutes throughout the day
  • Route 66 McLaughlin (weekday): every 22 to 17 minutes during the late evening

Schedule adjustments to improve service reliability due to changes in traffic conditions have been made on:

  • Route 11 Westwood (Saturday and Sunday)
  • Route 22 Finch (Sunday)
  • Route 36 Colonial-Ridgeway (weekday)
  • Route 42 Derry (weekday)

More service has been added where demand has increased on these routes that serve Mississauga high schools:

  • Route 8 Cawthra
  • Route 10 Bristol-Britannia
  • Route 13 Glen Erin
  • Route 26 Burnhamthorpe
  • Route 304 Father Goetz-Mississauga Valley
  • Route 306 Streetsville Secondary-Terry Fox

MiWay officials say their next planned service changes will take effect on Feb. 21.
